Supervised Agricultural Experience
A student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) is a formal way to gain that experience under supervision of their Agricultural Education instructor. SAE programs allow students to take knowledge gained in the classroom and apply it to a career setting. Student SAEs can consist of Placement/Internship, Entrepreneurship/Ownership, Research (Experimental, Analytical, or Invention), School Based Enterprises, Service Learning, or be of an exploratory nature. Students document their experiences through an electronic portfolio known as the SAE Record Book. In this, they track their personal goals, skills attained, and financial records for their business and personal lives. Teacher-led instruction within the classroom and during SAE visitations empowers student to make year-round wise decisions for themselves that will extend into their future and lives.
Each student should have a SAE project, that will be monitored by Miss Hartman, through SAE visits each summer. Each student will sign up for a SAE visit, prior to being checked out for summer break. SAE will be a part of each students grade, even if they are not a member of the Ansley FFA Chapter. Students will be given class time, every other Monday, to update their record books on the Agricultural Education Tracker (AET). This is an online record keeping program that allows students to enter income and expenses. This program also gives the students a place to write goals, enter community service experiences, leadership experiences, and build a resume. Miss Hartman will give each student their AET log in, within the first week of school. To access AET go to this link.
